Peer Review Process

Jurnal Ilmu Pendidikan Ahlussunah (JIPA) strictly maintains the standards of peer review to ensure the academic quality, originality, and rigor of published research. All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process, meaning that both the reviewers' and authors' identities are concealed throughout the review process.

Review Steps and Workflow:

  1. Initial Screening (Desk Review)
    • Every submitted manuscript is first reviewed by the Managing Editor to assess its suitability for the journal's focus and scope, academic merit, adherence to author guidelines, and similarity index (plagiarism check).
    • Manuscripts that do not meet the minimum quality criteria or fall outside the scope of JIPA will be rejected at this stage without further peer review.
  2. Double-Blind Peer Review
    • Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers in the relevant field (Mathematics, Biology, Geography, Indonesian Language, or Civic Education).
    • Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on research methodology, scientific contribution, clarity of arguments, validity of results, and quality of literature references.
  3. Editorial Decision
    • Based on the reviewers' reports and recommendations, the Section Editor/Editor-in-Chief makes one of the following decisions:
      • Accept Submission: The manuscript is accepted as is, with no further changes required.
      • Revisions Required: The manuscript is conditionally accepted subject to minor revisions specified by the reviewers.
      • Resubmit for Review: The manuscript requires substantial major revisions and must undergo another round of peer review after resubmission.
      • Decline Submission: The manuscript is rejected due to significant methodological flaws, lack of novelty, or unsuitability for publication.
  4. Revision and Final Acceptance
    • Authors are given a specified timeframe to address all reviewer comments and submit a revised version along with a point-by-point response letter.
    • The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision regarding publication. The average review process takes approximately 4 to 8 weeks from initial submission to the final decision.
